A real screecher, this one! Good thing I had a long lens.

Behind The Lens

Location

This image was made at a wildlife rescue facility in Albuquerque, NM. He could not be released back into the wild because his wing was badly damaged by someone taking pock-shots at the local birds of prey.

Time

We have "breakfast with the birds" once a year, usually in September.

Lighting

This was taken in a natural setting with natural light.

Equipment

I shoot with a Pentax K3 Mark II, full-frame camera and an 18-300mm Sigma lens.

Inspiration

I'm a huge wildlife advocate and anything I can do to promote rehabilitation in the wild, I will do.

Editing

The only post-processing on this image was to add a filter in Skylum's Tonality CK app.

In my camera bag

Two Pentax bodies and generally my 18-300mm and a 10-20mm wide angle.

Feedback

Patience is the key when photographing wildlife. They rarely cooperate with what you think you want, but you'll ultimately get something equally as good or better than what you expected.
