I don't have the words to describe how awesome this shot is. To describe it correctly would require a poet!

I see you found the sea cave; I've never been brave enough to wade out there, but I have friends who have. This is one of the nicest images of it I have seen. Great work!

Location
This image was shot in a sea cave along Upper Peninsula Michigan's Lake Superior coast not far from the town of Munising and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.Time
This image was shot at sundown, not long after I found the cave while exploring. I was happy to get inside, get set up and capture the image in the nick of time, before the colors faded from the sky.Lighting
I was happy to have relatively even lighting in what had been a very contrasty scene just a few minutes before.Equipment
Canon EOS 5D Mark III and Canon EF 16-35mm II L lens on a Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
I have been enchanted by the Lake Superior coastline since I first noticed some photographs of other photographers, namely John McCormick, that showcased the beauty and amazing landscape of that region of Michigan.Editing
After HDR processing from 7 original exposures, I preformed some contrast adjustment, sensor spot removal, and color correctionIn my camera bag
Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Canon EOS 7D, Canon EF 16-32mm II L lens, Canon EF 24-105mm L lens, Tamron 70-300mm lens, Canon EF 100mm Macro L lens, Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L lens, Hoodman Loupe, Lee Filters, Manfrotto tripod, Think Tank belt and bagsFeedback
Sometimes going to extremes will get you the shot. This scene was recorded after picking my way through a rugged four wheel drive "road," fighting maddening swarms of ferocious biting black flies while not knowing the exact location of this cave nor how I would access it, and wading into nearly waste-deep Lake Superior, all the while, racing the setting sun as I hoped I could get the shot before it would be too late. Sometimes, it really is worth the effort, trouble, and insect bites!
