Location
This photo was taken at the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary in Kerala.
Time
It was taken at about 8:30 in the morning. I reached the sanctuary at about 6 am since my guide had told me that early morning was the best time to spot birds. We reached this spot and had to wait for a while before the woodpecker arrived.
Lighting
It was taken in natural early morning daylight.
Equipment
The image was captured with a Nikon 800E with a Nikkor 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 Zoom Lens. I rested my camera on my car window to take this shot. The image was captured at 1/800 sec at f/6.3, ISO 3200.

Inspiration
The woodpecker was perfectly posed on the tree and all I had to do was press the shutter.
Editing
Yes. I extracted the woodpecker and the tree in Photoshop. I then motion-blurred an image of some trees taken at the same location after changing the white balance to cloudy. This gave it the orange look I was looking for. I then pasted the extracted image of the woodpecker on the tree to the motion-blurred background.
In my camera bag
A Nikon 800E with the Nikkor 28-300 mm lens.
