I just have to say - of course, you have great editing techniques but more importantly - you have the eye for composition and knowledge of lighting the subject! AMAZING WORK !

This photo was taken right off of a little walking trail close to my house. My family walk our dogs by it every night and my son always stops to play there. So one night I decided to sneak my camera in the stroller to see if I could capture anything.Time
This was taken right around 530 pm. The sun doesnt set here in the summer until almost 10pm so it wasn't the ideal golden hour I normally like to shoot in. Luckily there was pretty good tree cover in this spot other then one little steam of light so I tried to use that to my advantage.Lighting
I really wanted this image to be dramatic and a little magical. There is really nothing special about this spot when you first walk past it. However whenever my son would stop to play there he always seemed to end up in this little beam of light so I knew that I wanted to use that to help draw your eye to him and make it a little more dream like.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5d mark iii and a canon 70-200 2.8is iiInspiration
I am the worst when it comes to taking photos of my own son. It never goes well and we both end up frustrated. I had really given up trying to get him in front of the camera and thought that maybe in a couple of year it would go better. But every night on our walk when he would stop and play at this spot, all i could think about was what great photos this would be. So one night I put my camera in the stroller when he wasnt looking. When we got to this spot my husband started playing with him as he normally did and I ducked into the bushes to see what I could get. I was really happy in the end. This is my son just being my son and there couldn't be a more perfect picture then that.Editing
There was a lot of work that went into this one. There was 3 main things I had to deal with. The 1st was the colour. This was taken around 5:30pm mid summer so everything was very green. I used a few of my favorite actions from GTG and some photo filters to deal with the colour issues where needed. The 2nd issue was the light beam. It didn't end up being as dramatic in camera as I would have liked it to be. I used some light brushes from KCC photography and some dodge and burn to enhance it and give it that magical look. The 3rd issue was the water. The water was pretty nasty looking. It not had rained much so the water that was there was very stale and dirty looking. I tried a few things to clean up the water that was already there but nothing seemed to look great. In the end I decided to go a head and replace the water with a flood plug in from flaming pear. The edit took maybe 10-15 mins and I was really happy with the out come.In my camera bag
I am really a minimalist when it comes to gear. I move around a lot and hate having a bunch of stuff to lug around. I normally pack up my canon 5d mark iii, canon 70-200 2.8is ii, sigma 35mm 1.4 art, sigma 50mm 1.4 art. exspodisk and a reflector. That's it.Feedback
Really visit your location before hand. I had been to this spot many times so I knew what to expect when I got there. I had a good idea of where I would want to put myself and what the light would be like. Try to image what you want your final image to look like. My SOOC image might have looked a little boring but I knew with a little help I could turn it into something magical and special. You can never over plan.
