The Yellow Bird of Paradise
Botanical name: Caesalpinia gilliesii: Sometimes called the Desert bird of paradise. The flower is not as showy as the Red Bird Variety. But, the plant is much hardier and requires less water. It is a maintenance free plant. They re-seed themselves and grow wild in and around the desert Southwest, this one was photographed in Tyrone, New Mexico. It is also called the Bird of paradise bush and Barba de chivo (goats beard). . The flowers are clustered at the stem tips. The individual flowers have 5 yellow petals and conspicuous, red, 3 1-2 inch (9 cm) long stamens. The flowers are followed by flat, oblong, green to reddish bean pods that are dotted with red, glandular hairs. The bean pods dry to a tan color and split open and curl when mature. The fern-like leaves are alternate and bipinnately compound with numerous, small, oblong, bluish green secondary leaflets.

It has taken three summers and a lot of tries, finally something worthy of posting. I also love the colors and for sure the POV which helps magnify everything as it explodes from the center of the composition.
