Location
This photo has been taken In Wellington, New Zealand from the old overseas terminal facing Wellington CBD.Time
It has been taken around 9 PM on the first of January 2012 - This is Summertime in Wellington.Lighting
Nothing special about the lighting. The sun was just under the visible horizon, and lit up the sky and clouds perfectly, and it was still bright enough to get the foreground as well.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 6d, Sigma 15 mm f2.8, Tripod and remote.Inspiration
The low clouds, which is normal here but still seems unusual for me as of European origin, and the setting sun give quite a light show in the evenings here. Also this particular evening there was no wind (which is very unusual for Wellington). My camera is virtually always with me, so I just decided to go for a walk and see what I can get. I'm very pleased with the outcome. I generally like the evening and night hours for photography, I like the strong contrasts and colors at those times.Editing
I did some noise reduction and adjusted highlights and contrast in Photoshop, nothing major. In my camera bag
As a minimum, a small bag containing my EOS 6d with 24-105 f4 lens and a small ringlight, second battery. My big bag contains 6d, 5dmll, an assortment of lenses from 15mm to 300mm, flashguns, reflector, tripod etc.Feedback
This shot was with a 15mm lens, 180 degrees diagonal fisheye. I did not straighten the distortion as I thought it was looking very well that way. ISO was 100, f9.1, ecposure was 0.08 seconds. It certainly helps to use filters, but I don't have filters fitting that lens. Without having filters available, I started shooting when the sun was still higher up, and kept going to shoot every few minutes till the sky turned dark. I got quite some nice shots out of this session, but this one hat the best light/color balance.
