Cowboy hangs his head to cry.
As he hangs his saddle up to dry.
His knees are weak and his back his sore
And he knows he'll never ride no more.
For 50 years he's rode those lines.
Fixin fences and forgettin time
But now he knows it's time to quit
Cause he's given all he's got to give.

That ol horse he rode in on.
Will never wear a saddle no more.
His hooves are cracked and his back is sway
He'll never walk that trail another day.
For 15 years he's carried that man.
Cross those mountains and across those sands.
Runnin cattle and runnin mares
But this winter will be more than he can fair.

Cattle graze in the valley there.
Eating what grass is left to share.
Winter will be here before long
When the snow falls they'll move along.
Calves will live and calves will die.
The wolves and cold will take their lives.
The cowboys will do all they can
But it comes down to Nature's Hands...
