I got up at 6:00am to try and get the mirrored surface look, but even if I hadn’t walked for miles in the wrong direction, the cloud and rain would have put paid to that.

I read the map wrong and ended up walking for 2 hours along a cycle path to Pont twr quarry. Eventually I found a map that said “You are here”, and I though Sh*t.
So I turned around and started walking back to the car park.

On the way I stood still for a moment and shouted at the heavens “Is it possible to get any wetter?”, at which point someone up there obligingly turned the taps on full, soaking me and drowning my lenses.

I reached the Carpark around midday but decided to miss a break and pushed straight through along the correct path to Cwm Idwal. If the rain stopped and I got some decent light I certainly wasn’t going to miss it being stuck in my campervan having a coffee break!

Funnily enough the real walk to cwn idwal was actually only a few minutes. I spent 2hrs there walking around looking for the best angle. In the end I decided that this was the best. I waited and waited for a brief moment when it was not peeing it down, and the sun managed to peep out from behind the clouds.

This is definitely the wettest day I’ve ever tried to photograph anything. I am left wondering whether you can by rain repellent UV filters!
