Behind The Lens

Location
This image was taken in the depths of a British winter in Oxfordshire woodlands.
Time
This was the scene on a misty morning around 8.30am
Lighting
The winter woodland landscape provides excellent photographic opportunities when the fog is around, the tree trunks are shadowy shapes and with the morning sun providing dawn lighting you have the prefect conditions to capture moody images.
Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 6D that was tripod mounted and the Canon 17-55mm L series lens.
Inspiration
The shadowy scene provides a mysterious mood.
Editing
Curves and saturation tweaks, with some use of layers to provide more detail in shadows.
In my camera bag
Canon EOS 6D, Canon 17-55mm lens, Canon 70-200mm L series lens, Sigma Macro 105mm lens, tripod.
Feedback
Woodland scenes change rapidly in different light conditions and you need to know you woods well, literally minutes later this scene would become very ordinary and therefore aim to get out in the woodlands early and be prepared to have to scout around the that perfect location. I revisit this same location regularly and I know the different times in the different seasons where to be in this particular wood.
