Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a farm, between Cathcart & stutterheim, in the Eastern Cape, south Africa

Time

In this area mist comes up quite quick, so the photo was taken around 1pm, and with the cloud cover it helped alot!

Lighting

I drove past this old farm house on many occasions, but the light, or mood was not cool, the image was taken with natural light. the settings were: ISo-100, F5, speed 1/320 sec,

Equipment

I used my Canon 50D, with a 50mm 1.8 lens, no tripod

Inspiration

this farm house has been there for ages! it reminded me of days gone by, i took many images of this exact scene, and finally i got what i was after!

Editing

I took 9 images, & stitched together with autopano pro, then edited in Adobe Lightroom

In my camera bag

I have a few bags & cases, but my go to bag (Lowepro 430 i think!) has: My Canon 7D mk1, 24mm 2.8 lens, a 50mm 1.8, 17-40mm F4 L lens, a 17-85, a 70-200 f4 L lens, 2 canon 430 speedlights, photix triggers & receivers, a reflector, 8 sandisk memory cards (8gig to 16gig)

Feedback

I always tell anyone who wants to know, take as many images as possible, walk around the whole scene, take from various angles, a scene will change the time of day you are there, early morning will be different to late afternoon, cloud cover will add mood to a scene....Plan ahead, and know what you want the final image to look like when you are finished!
