Location
I took this photo from my bedroom window. I live on top of a hill (kind of) and I have a great view with almost no obstruction.Time
This is my favourite time in the day! This is taken some time in the early evening (between 6-7 pm), in april. The sun sets around that time in the day here in Sweden that time of the year. Every sunset is unique in it's own way and I can never get enough of it.Lighting
I didn't have to use any kind of extra lighting since the natural light was enough and I didn't want to disturb the colors or natural light.Equipment
I used my Sony DSC-HX400V. That's my first "good" camera I bought. I had only used more simple equipment before and of course my mobile phone. I had been longing for a better camera for a long time but since I had a very little experience of shooting with better equipment I wanted a not too advanced camera to start with. I've upgraded a couple of cameras since then....Inspiration
I wanted to try to catch the feeling and my vision of the beautiful scenery that I saw from my window almost every evening. I wanted other people to see what I saw, hoping they would feel the same thing I felt looking at the glowing colors in the sky.Editing
This was taken before I started to learn how to use Lightroom som it's not edited at all but only to get my mark on it.In my camera bag
I have my newest camera, an Olympus E-M5MarkII with M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12?50mm 1:3.5?6.3 EZ lens. A cleaning kit, extra battery and memory card.Feedback
When I'm shooting sunsets, I try to catch it when the colors are most vivid. Since you only have a few minutes before the sun completely disappears beyond the horizon it's good to take a lot of photos. Then you have more chance to get one really good picture. Sometimes I end up with maybe 10 almost exactly the same looking photos but then I pick out the best of the best and remove the rest. Keep track of the settings in the camera. If the exposure is too bright or too dark, you risk missing out on the beautiful colors. Dare to experiment! Catch what you want to show, not what you think others want to see.
