Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken in Cedar Key Florida
Time
Obviously, it was taken at night! :-) I believe it was around 11pm.
Lighting
This was a single shot with exposure optimized for the Milky Way capture. I used a small flashlight to paint some on the jeep during the approximately 30 second exposure
Equipment
Nikon D750 with a NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED lens on a Gitzo tripod. I was also using a Velo shutter release and a mini-mag flashlight.
Inspiration
I was actually taken some other shots of the Milky Way in the area and when I walked back to my Jeep I thought it made a fantastic foreground for the stars, so I had to grab it.
Editing
Yes, did some tweaking in Lightroom to pull out the stars, mostly just brightness, contrast and clarity.
In my camera bag
For night photography, alway my Nikon D750, some wide angle lenses, and my Velo remote shutter control.
Feedback
Find a place where you have a good dark night sky, that is key and then be prepared to do some trial and error on painting the foreground with light during the Milky Way exposure.
