Location
I took the photo in Reinefjorden Lofoten Islands in Norway in beginning of July. I missed the last ferry and decided to kayak instead since the midnightsun was up all night. This fjord and area can be crowded at day, but I was completely alone in the fjord at night.Time
The photo was taken between 2 and 3 at night. The water was completely still giving a nice reflection of the mountains.Lighting
Although the midnightsun was up all night, it was hidden by the mountains when I took the photo. The sky was clear the whole day, but a few small clouds started forming at 1 at night making the light and reflection more interesting.Equipment
I used my gopro3+ mounted on a helmet. I used time-lapse mode to avoid getting a blurred photo from pressing the shutter. I seldom use my DSLR from my kayak.Inspiration
Photos from this area of Lofoten.Editing
Since it was only a gopro photo I only edited it with photoshop express on my android phone. Highlights and shadows, added contrast. In my camera bag
Nikon D3, Nikon D300, Sony a6000, and cameras that I use from the kayak: Sony rx100mk2 and gopro 4Feedback
Gopro cameras are very good when the light is good. The best camera is the one you have with you, and I always have a gopro with spare batteries when I am in my kayak or in the mountains. The ease of use of the gopro in a wet environment makes it possible to focus 100% on composition. You have to keep the lens and gopro housing absolutely dry and clean. I also recommend using the gopro app and mobile as a viewfinder and to adjust exposure with protune settings
