The photo was taken in Kyoto, during the Hanagasa Procession that takes place right after the second day of the large Gion Matsuri, the largest festival of Japan.Time
Right before noon, during this small procession. But as I was located inside a shopping arcade, the time of the day is not that important as there is no direct light.Lighting

This was shot with my trusty Nikon D810 and my 70-200 mm zoom, my favorite lens. Nothing more.Inspiration
The procession is just a succession of a lot of people all dressed up with beautiful historic costumes. Of course, the Maiko, apprentice geisha, are one of the highlight of the day.Editing
All post-processing was done exclusively within Lightroom. The photo was cropped, basic tone adjustments, and the grainy aspect (OK, noise) that comes from the usage of a high ISO setting, was boosted with some additional grain.In my camera bag
I usually do not have a bag. I often just take with me my D810 and one lens. Usually a zoom, either 24-70 mm or 70-200 mm. On special occasions, I do bring a bag with additional prime lenses and other accessories, but this is rare.Feedback
The photo is taken during a public procession during a festival -- think carnival. There are a lot of people moving all around the place, Everybody takes photo of everybody else. And everybody wants to be in the best location to capture the procession. From there, it's being ready for street photography and/or event photography, being prepared as well as possible, and then being lucky.
