This is wonderful! i wish you had cropped down the top just a tad, its takes away from the wonder a bit. but its still stunning!

Thank you so much! And for your feedback aswell! :) I absolutely see your point, but if I were to crop anymore from the top, I would ruin the curved lines on each side of the frame. Those lines are too important to the entire image :)

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my homestudio - also known as my livingroom.

Time

This was taking in the afternoon. Marianne and I, had never worked together before and prior to the actual shoot, we spend alot of time, wondering how to get the headpiece to actually stay on her head.

Lighting

For this photo, I used my favorite lightsource - a Beautydish. It creates this hauntingly beautiful feel to my images. Something I am quite fond of. One of the first things I was told in my beginning as a photographer, was to never place any light straight in front of my subject, so naturally that is what I did.

Equipment

I used my trusty Canon Rebel T3i. I love that camera so much - I call her Camera Diaz. Beautydish and a very cheap tripod. I used the tripod to balance the headpiece, behind the model. It was simply the best way, to realize my vision.

Inspiration

I love creating something different out of stuff that already has a purpose. I bought these Ikea lanterns and instantly thought that they belonged on someones head. To me, they were a little boring as lanterns, but the many patterns and the feel of 'over the top' was what inspired me.

Editing

Most of the processing is dodge/burn. I have a certain way of doing that, which I am currently perfecting. I also changed her makeup slightly and increased the contrast.

In my camera bag

I have my Camera Diaz and whatever kit lens that came with it. Other than that, I have a 50mm lens and on the lucky days I can borrow it, I have a 70-200mm lens.

Feedback

Extraordinary things are right in front of us, but because they often have a mundane purpose, we overlook them easily. Take a look around you and imagine what you see, but on a model. Need a fancy collar? Tinfoil is your friend. There really are no limits.
