This was during the late afternoon.Lighting
The weather that day was slightly overcast and these 2 were apart of a herd that was resting in the shade of a grove of trees. I had to take a few shots to find the right exposure.Equipment
I used a Nikon D-800 with a Sigma 300 f/2.8, with an Induro Carbonfiber tripod and bullhead.Inspiration
I liked the information in the image. The depth of field including another animal yet still focusing on the closer subject. I also loved the way the yellow flowers complimented the other colors in the image, they also framed the main subject matter within the image itself.Editing
I did a small amount of post processing. While this image was a quick post process when I posted it I have since worked on it some more to improve it. A little exposure adjustment, white & black balance, sharpened a little, and just a touch of saturation adjustment since the subjects were in the shade.In my camera bag

As always with wildlife it's really being in the right place at the right time, but also trying to visualize what you are wanting to capture before you capture it. A person can take 2000 images but only have 100 that are usable, so taking some shots prior to focusing on your subject to get exposure right and finding the right place for placement and framing are always key.
