Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home studio in Floresville, TX. I am constantly looking for new things to try and for ways to improve my art.

Time

I do not remember the exact day, but my husband had surprised me with a bouquet of flowers. It was in the evening after a trying day at work. They were just beautiful and I knew I needed to shot them ASAP!

Lighting

For this image I was experimenting with trying to bring focus to the water droplets. To achieve this, I just used a cheapo desk lamp with a 25W bulb. I purposefully kept the rest of the room dark.

Equipment

This was shot with my Nikon D750, Nikor 60mm Micro lens, Manfrotto Tripod, Desk lamp, spray bottle

Inspiration

Nothing and everything inspired this photo. I try to draw inspirations from everything around me. My husband tells me that I see the world through a view finder. I am constantly looking for opportunities to capture the beauty all around us. This grocery store bouquet provided instant inspiration.

Editing

This photo was edited completely in Lightroom. I shot the photo in raw and made minor adjustments, added an infrared filter and adjusted clarity.

In my camera bag

in my bag you will usually find my 2 D750 Bodies with an assortment of lenses. A macro is a must, as I love taking floral shots. I also pack my 70-200 mm 2.8, my 14-24 wide angle, my 150-600 Tamron, if I plan on shooting wildlife and my old work horse 50 mm. For my nature shots I usually don't travel with flashes, but it is not unknown for me to load up one or two.

Feedback

The best advice I can give someone trying to shot a similar photograph is to control your lighting. Take several test shots and move your lighting around your subject to find the best possible shot.
