My first upload captures the spirit of a lot of my work: exotic people and unfamiliar places. And the stress is on "unfamiliar". I have traveled to 30+ countries in my life, including 10 in Africa, and never stayed in a resort or luxury hotel. I do the far places. This picture was taken in April 2015 in a small village in northern Kenya. It was a rainy day - the first after a long drought - and I saw the goat shivering by itself. Thinking I would get a throwaway image to pass the boredom, I snapped it. Then seemingly out of nowhere the girl landed in the frame, ready to go. A photographer couldn't have asked for a more disciplined and polished subject, never mind her ragged clothing. This girl is brilliant - you don't need to talk to her much to see that in her.
