Location
I took this picture in my studio. Where i mostly make my studio shotsTime
It was early in The afternoon And was testing some light setup. The boy in The picture is my youngest Son and is always active And asking what im doing And why. It really doesnt matter when i take pictures of him. He is always willing to be a model for testing my equipment haha.Lighting
I wanted to test some light set up in specific angle With a Large octa softbox. But didnt want flat light. So after placing The light closer And further i eventually got this shot.Equipment
I almost shoot everything out of hand. I rarely use a Tripod shooting models or children. I want to move around quickly. I used The 1ds mark iii from canon And my multiblitz studio flash light. One light source And a little reflection screen.Inspiration
My muse is my youngest Son At The moment. But also my oldest. Both my boys really inspire me And give me that drive to capture really Nice shots. They both love to be in The studio helping me And posing for me. Discovering all The emotions they can show me with their eyes And face etc. Just love it.Editing
I used lightroom for my first post proces And selecting The images. What i do here is selecting And color correcting Then in Photoshop i start with removing some distractions, like some hair in The face. I converted this Photo to this Nice black And White with The onone softwareIn my camera bag
I just bought some new gear. So now my bag : Canon 1ds mark III Canon 5d mark III Canon 7d Canon 24-70 2.8 L Canon 70-200 2.8 USM L Canon 300 2.8 USM L Speedlight 580 ex Several cf memory cards And sd cards. From 12GB to 64GB ND filters Studio lights 2 heads of profoto D2 2 profoto B1 for on location shoots Several modfiers Octa softbox 5' Octa softbox 2' Beauty disc 5 different umbrellas And some moreFeedback
I think The best advice is, is to shoot as much as You can And try a lot of settings. Dont be afraid to make mistakes And learn from it. Find a model of models that like to pose And just spend a lot of time doing different setups with your lights. A Large softbox close to The subject is really Nice soft light. But moving this light further away from The subject your light wil be somewhat harsher. So just play around
