This photo was taken on one my many trips with my son to the Green River in Colrain, Massachusetts. I take almost exclusively naturally lit and un-photoshopped photography, so trips to the river offer excellent surroundings for capturing in natural daylight.Time
Taken in the late afternoon the partly cloudy sky and trees nearby on the shore provided just the right amount of shade to the while allowing for reflected light from the water maintain the brilliance of the color.Lighting
The natural lighting was exceptional however, what turned out to be most important was the colors my son was wearing and how they reacted to the daylight; his red pants give the blue of his eyes true saturated color without retouching.Equipment

My son provides constant inspiration for my photography. I particularly wanted to capture his wonder for nature when he so young and filled with joy about everything being new.Editing
I used no post processing for my photography. I utilize natural light and surroundings to provide the best composition and frame possible for the time of day. In this case the colors my son is wearing played a big part as well.In my camera bag
This photography was taken on my first digital camera so I no longer have it in my “bag” Currently I am using a Nikon 7700 and while I am trying to build my stash of equipment I bring with me my two lens that provide up to 300mm if zoom.Feedback
In order to capture brilliance in natural light such as this you have to be very aware of the weather and how the natural environment will both help and hinder a photo. This photo would not have the same value had it been even an hour earlier in the day when there was direct sun and no clouds. Also, when shooting photos with water surrounding your subject, be very careful to use the reflection of light and still life to the advantage of your composition; the position of just one rock or the turbidity of the water can change subject of photo for the viewer.
