Fowl, Our Friends: Part 1

My livestock project is to raise awareness for the "unseen" animals--the chickens, ducks, geese, turkey, sheep, cows, pigs, etc.. The animals we don't think about because we primarily rely on them for food. I'm no vegetarian, but getting to know and love these animals has taught me that each one has a different personality; each one can form a special bond with humans. We need to begin to respect where our food is coming from, and remember that sometimes, our meals were once living, breathing animals. It's unsettling, yes, but it's something from which we have become too far removed. I am in no way promoting vegetarianism, but instead I want to remind the world that we need to reconnect with days past, when people grew, farmed, and raised their own food, and had much more of a respect and understanding of it. Large corporations are poisoning us with meats pumped full of antibiotics and who knows what else, and slaughterhouses are notorious for horrifically abusing the animals we eat. It is time we take back control of what we are putting into our bodies. Support your local farms and farmers by purchasing local fruits, veggies, eggs, and meat!!
