Location
This photo was taken in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. It was taken from underneath the Peace Bridge which is the border to Buffalo, NY.Time
Driving around randomly with a friend as we often do to find things to photograph, we decided to make a stop here at night. It seemed like a great shot to long expose, especially with the way the bridge lights up. This was taken at 10:27pm on August 22, 2014.Lighting
The lighting was just right as there was enough light to give the shot good focus, while at the same time not a lot of light pollution to distort it in the distance.Equipment
This was taken on a tripod using a Nikon D5200 and a Nikkor 18-140mm lens. It was shot at 18mm, 6.2 second exposure and an f-stop of 3.5.Inspiration
I'm inspired to take a picture of I see that I believe may or may look great as a photograph. It's a rewarding feeling to put that to the test and have it result in something great.Editing
I post-process nearly all of my photos, although more often than not it's at a minimal level, and this one is no exception. Although I do not recall the specifics of what I edit from one photo to the next, I do what I can to make them look as close as possible to what I saw with my own eyes.In my camera bag
I currently always carry with me my Nikon D5200 with my 18-300mm lens, as well as a backup battery, remote, and some cleaning tools. Depending on my surroundings, my tripod is usually nearby as well.Feedback
My advice to any photographer in any scenario is just to have patience. Try several different settings and take more pictures than you can keep track of if you need to. In this particular situation, a tripod is a must to ensure the sharpest photo when shooting at night. Once in focus, try several exposure levels until you achieve the light level you're happy with. If you're happy with it, the people you share with are bound to like it as well.
