Skoshi, a male Red-Tailed Hawk and one of the many injured birds of prey saved by the angels at the Carolina Raptor Center. Skoshi suffers from a condition called microphthalmia, meaning 'small eye' - which you can see in this particular photo. Now around 26 years of age, Skoshi was found in 1988 as a fledgling with an injury to his elbow thought to have partially been caused by his impaired vision. Because of this congenital defect, he is blind in one eye and cannot hunt. He is one of the many resident raptors at the center and is part of their raptor education program. His name means 'little' in Japanese, named for his small size.
