Inspiration

I've always been fascinated by the way things were done in years gone by. This steam train always attracts a crowd and has a certain majesty to it; the deafening noise of the engine and the old steam driven whistle, the amount of pure hard work by the engineers to stoke the boiler with coal, and the smiles it generates on little kids and adult kids faces.

Editing

Dark Vignette, Lighten Driver's face under the shadow of the cap, Lighten the steam on the left of shot.

Feedback

For a shot like this, I made sure I was on location for the first trip of the day (5 made every day) and early so as to avoid a crowded train platform. I was able to get the angle I wanted without having to jostle for position. I also found getting there early, all the volunteers on the steam train were excited to start the day and much more accommodating to photographers.
