Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken after a shower of rain in the Himeji Japanese Garden, Adelaide, South Australia.

Time

This was taken around 10am as i was waiting for rain to clear. The overcast skies made perfect lighting to get the contrasting colors without a blowout on the white.

Lighting

Overcast skies and shadow provided by canopy of trees meant adjusting white balance and exposure to ensure no over exposure on white while still getting a nice contrast.

Equipment

Nikon D3100 with standard kit lens, no tripod.ß

Inspiration

Had only recently taken up photography and was still learning basics of composition and lighting. Being self taught I visited local parks and gardens to practice.

Editing

Virtually no post processing I only cropped the image.

In my camera bag

Spare charged up batteries i have found to be the most important item and now I have been doing photography a little longer I take wide angle lens, macro lens, 35mm lens anx tripod.

Feedback

Enjoy trying different angles to get best shot without stepping on other plants in process. I have found that every individual sees something different when viewing subject to be taken and if you take the time you should achieve a shot you are happy with,
