This is part of our crazy 42 days/11350 miles "USA West Trip" in 2015. I had seen many beautiful photos from time to time on the web of this place and hoped someday I could go there and take photos. After searching through many articles, we decided to go for the Lower Antelope Canyon. I took the photo at Antelope Lower Canyon in Page, Arizona.Time
We booked our Lower Antelope Canyon tour 45 days before we went. It was took in 2015/04/21 11:53 am.Lighting
I prepared a tripod but gave up on using it because we needed to move in such a tiny space. Although the guide told us we should set our ISO to 150 on our DSLR, but it is not easy to get sharp photos. I used a higher ISO and shot lot of good photos. For this particular photo I used ISO 1600 \ F 7.1 \ 1/80 sec. All photos I took with ISO from 800 to 1600 and exposure time as low as 1/10 sec.Equipment
Canon 7D Mark II. Canon EFS 10-22 mm lens. No tripod and flash.Inspiration
I told myself that I need to go there every time I saw those amazing photos from the slot canyons on the website. It looks almost impossible to have so many different colors of sand stone inside those tiny canyon. We were happy finally we came and experience it.Editing
I used Photoshop with few adjustments. Level \ Brightness/contrast \ shadows/highlights and sometimes Vibrance. In my camera bag
Canon 7D Mark II. Canon EFS 15-85 mm / Canon EFS 10-22 mm / Canon 70-200 mm F4 IS lens. Canon Extender EF 2x.Feedback
Bring only you cameras and water with you because you need your hands when using the ladders. The best time to go to the slot canyon is when the sun is above the canyon. Originally I thought we can photograph the magical beam of sunlight coming through the small gap down to the bottom of the slot, but we didn’t see that because of the time we were in the slot canyon although we were there in the noon time.
