Location
It was my first visit to Hellaby Hall photographing a wedding and the bride and groom were the best any photographer could ask for. They just wanted to pose all day and were both great in front of the camera.Time
Its still, to this day, one of my favourite images. A nice overcast day and was taken around an hour before sunset.Lighting
It was pretty overcast the whole day and was glad the sun wasn't directly in their faces. My assistant had a soft box on a monopod to the high right of the camera. One shot didn't trigger the flash and this shot looked more natural so decided to use it.Equipment
With it being 8 years ago since I took this image, It was taken with one of my first cameras. It was my Canon 450d, with my then trusty 18-200mm. Since then I have upgraded somewhat slightly.Inspiration
My wife has always been a great inspiration for me. She comes with me to give me another creative eye in each situation. It was her idea to pose them like this and the bride and groom were so relaxed and casual with each pose. It just made the shot so much better.Editing
Im always using a large range of actions in photoshop as well as some presets in Lightroom. With this shot I didn't really do too much tinkering. I just ran a clean up and sharpening action in Photoshop. In my camera bag
After upgrading much of my bag this year, I always carry my Canon 5diii with my 24-70mm 2.8 attached. Even though it can be heavy to lug about, My Canon 70-200mm 2.8 is always in there too. Its a great lens in low light and also means I don't have to bother people during the wedding breakfast. One of my favourite new toys is my Light Sphere. It spreads the light perfectly and am so glad I purchased one.Feedback
As this is one of my favourite Bride and Groom shots Ive ever taken, I always get asked by brides if I can recreate it during their wedding day. I always try to frame the couple in a doorway or maybe an archway. Just try and put the bride and groom at ease and you'll get the best out of them. Plus, it'll just finish the shot off if you position the brides body away from the groom and looking back over her shoulder.
