Cidar Creek Falls, Queensland, Australia!
Airlie Beach is famous for its nautical atmosphere and for being the hub of the Whitsunday Islands, but just minutes away lies some of Mother Nature's best work.
Cedar Creek Falls is located in Proserpine, just a short drive south from the very well-known Airlie Beach. Once you reach the destination you will understand just how captivating the falls are.
The falls sets the scene for a day immersing yourself in Mother Nature, and finding an unfound appreciation for it. The high rock face provides the perfect platform for a series of cascading waterfalls. Falls so breathtaking and intriguing, they look as though El Dorado might be hiding behind them.
The waterhole is stagnant and water only flows after it has been raining, which adds to the specialness of the location as many people do not actually witness the falls at its best.
You can jump off the 80ft high cliff, but only if you know what you're doing. It is dangerous, especially as the water is around three metres deep, but never fear there are plenty of other smaller ledges to make your way into the spring.
The rocky terrain and abundance of insects means you wouldn't want to stay there any longer than a couple of hours, but nonetheless it is well worth the visit.
It is the perfect picnic place for families and friends as there are eating areas and amenities located at the destination.
The water is quite stagnant during the dry season and there aren't any falls, so to experience Cedar Creek at its finest visit during the wet season.
Getting there is a little bit scary with series of winding roads and dirt tracks, but nothing too much a small car can't handle.
Cedar creek falls is the perfect destination for your typical north Queensland tropical day and will feel like your own tropical oasis.
