Location
This photo was taken on the Isle of Vlieland, north of Holland. It's a beautiful Isle without cars and just a few small villages. We visited this wonderful place in spring and we could walk for hours without seeing a living soul... just nature and unspoiled beaches.Time
I guess it was about two o clock, but we walked all day and I took so many photos, that I can't remember the exact time of day.Lighting
The wether was typically Dutch; clouds, wind and so now and then a bit of rain... I took some photos of this dune with sunlight and some without. I chose this one because the pale sun created these wonderful contrasts and added a wild and windy touch to the composition.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ60, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a camera...The best thing about this camera is that it has a good Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket.Inspiration
We visited the Isle of Vlieland in spring, a time of year when you don't see many tourists walking around. The beach was without any footsteps, completely deserted and natural... The wild structures of the dunes and the clouds caught my attention, I tried to capture the wind and the salty wilderness of this typical Dutch landscape.Editing
This was mostly a natural shot, very little post-processing was done, I only cropped the photo and played a little with the color intensity. In my camera bag
I don't have a bag of equipment at all, only my Lumix DMC-TZ60, a wonderful intelligent automatic pocketcamera wich practically fits in my backpocket. It shows that you do not have to use expensive and big cameras to achieve nice results...Feedback
If you want to show nature itself in a small and crowded country like Holland, you have to choose the right time of year to avoid the presence of human activity... I wanted to show the dunes as they are; windy lonely and wild. The structures of the dunes and the clouds where lovely that day, I waited for the moment the sun created hard shadows to complete the whole picture. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... And most of all, take more shots with slightly different settings so you can choose the best one, once you got home and opened your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!day when you can have a fresh look at them!
