Love WWII aircraft. B17 is a work of art in itself. Beautiful machine. Great Shot!

Despite what is was designed to do it is still a graceful warbird. Thanks for your interest. Regards Brian.

Location
Image captured on the west bank of the River Adur at the annual air-show in my home town of Shoreham-by-sea in West Sussex, England.Time
Taken late afternoon (3.45pm) in late summer.Lighting
Always tricky the light here as Shoreham Airport is on the coast with the runway running north/south. Best to capture facing east when taken at this time of day. Clear blue skies normally best but I do prefer a little bit of fair weather cloud to add interest and depth.Equipment
Sony Alpha A850 Full Frame DSLR. Sony 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 G SSM Zoom Lens. Hand Held. 1/250:F10:ISO200:300mmInspiration
Been an aeroplane fanatic since a kid and I always try and get to this air-show despite what the English weather normally throws at us. These old "war-birds" are part of our history and heritage and just witnessing and hearing the roar of this amazing old bomber, is inspiration enough.Editing
This is a vertical crop of the original Landscape original. Shot in RAW this image has been sharpened by 0.50px after conversion to Jpeg.In my camera bag
Besides the above, I also carry a Sony SLT A99V Full Frame DSLR and two other lenses, which can be Sony 20mm F2.8 Wide Angle Lens and/or Sony 28-75mm F2.8 SAM.Feedback
Air-show photography is very hit and miss, quite literally with the fast jets. Telephoto lenses and panning the aircraft are essential to get sharpness and auto-focus is preferable otherwise it gets a bit over complicated. Most manuals say do not exceed 1/125 so as not to freeze the propellers, but I find 1/250 works fine. ISO of say 200-400 and faster shutter speeds for jets, unless you want to emphasise speed.
