The photo of the rower on the river Arno was taken in Florence, during a delightful two day stay while visiting Italy. I took it standing on the road Lungarno Acciaiuoli delgli, near Vecchio Bridge. I am a self-taught photographer from France and each picture is, for me, a new experience.Time
The photo was taken on a sunny day at around 6 pm. I was walking around the wonderful city of Florence, under the blazing sun, all morning. My camera strapped over my shoulder and the lens shade attached. I was ready to capture the unexpected.Lighting
The sun was on my right. Its reflection on the river. That’s the reason why I chose to have the picture framed on the boat at this specific moment, and not sooner or in a larger frame. My aim was to capture the reflection of the boat and the dark blue colour of the river.Equipment
The camera used was a Canon 60d and its setting was: - Sensitivity ISO 100, - Full day with bright sunshine, - Lens hood attached in aperture priority, - No flash triggered.Inspiration
I was walking in Florence, with my back on Vecchio Bridge. I wanted to take my time before capturing it on a picture, when I suddenly saw a man coming towards me, rowing alone along the river. The water had a deep blue colour. I felt a uniqueness in the atmosphere. A contrast between the quietness of the river and the rowing motion, going back and forth into the water, while breaking its surface. The reflection of the buildings on the river, was unexpectedly disturbed.Editing
I added contrast to this picture in order to make the blue colour deeper. In that way it resembles more to how I had felt it at the moment of capturing it.In my camera bag
The equipment that I usually carry with me is a lowepro backpack. Inside I have a canon 60d camera, with 3 lenses. A Canon 24-7mm 2.8 L USM, a Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 APO DG HSM & a Canon EFS 10-18mm. Also, I carry a Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
I took this picture thanks to the feeling which was born in the moment. I saw the boat arriving quickly and breaking the mirroring effect created on the river. I was already
