This cape is part of the Shark Bay World Heritage Area which was gazetted in January 1993.... Indigenous Australians were the initial inhabitants for over 26,000 years and was named after the French Naturalist and explorer, Francois Peron.....on the peninsular at Herald Bight was once a pearling camp in the 1880s and shells can still be found on the beach.....it is a very popular remote fishing haven along the Western Australia coastline
