Location
This Photo was taken at Phillip Island "The Pinnacles" . Taken from the top of the cliff behind the rock formation facing the ocean.Time
It was early January mid summer so this it was about 8:20pm as the sun was disappearing.Lighting
Because it was mid summer the sun goes down late and golden hour lasts a while and because there was some cloud in the sky it made for some beautiful colours.Equipment
I shot this image using a Nikon D 7100 and a Van Guard tripod with a Ball head. I used the sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens set f10 with a 30 second exposure.Inspiration
I was out this night looking for an interesting subject to shoot on the island and hadnt been to this spot before only heard about it. So we walked in and set up and started creating the image until the ideal lighting conditions come up and I got this.Editing
Not alot of post was done. Post works were done in lightroom, I increased the saturation, clarity, sharpness, lightened shadows, and sharpened the image. I then cropped the image removing the rest of the colourless sky- keeping the veiwers eye in the image. In my camera bag
I currently carry in my camera bag a Nikon D810 and a Nikon D7100. I also have a 50mm f1.4 , sigma105mm f2.8, sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6, 18-105mm f3.5-5.4, 24-85mm f3.4-5.4 , variable ND filter ,polarisers, Cokin ND filters, cable shutter release, spare batteries. cleaning clothes, tripod, speedlightsFeedback
I think that the most important thing with photography is that you need to have patience and be prepared to get out there and take the shot even if you dont come home with anything worth while. Do your research and give it a go. Take shots from all angles and heights creating different perspectives and different feels. Keep your images simple - dont have too much in them.
