This aircraft was the life's project of the gentleman who built it. Sadly, he passed away very soon after finishing the build and therefore was never able to fly it. His family donated it to the Quonset Air Museum after his death.

Great perspective.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photograph was taken at the Quonset Air Museum in Rhode Island.

Time

The time of day was early afternoon.

Lighting

Lighting inside the hangar was tricky so I opted to shoot toward the sunshine coming in from the windows.

Equipment

Taken with a Sony A-65 and a 70-400mm lens. No other equipment was used

Inspiration

This aircraft has a rather sad backstory and I wanted to find a way to portray that in a photograph.

Editing

Photoshop was my friend with this one. I worked with the white balance, overdid the clarity, and changed it to a black and white.

In my camera bag

All I have in my bag is my A-65 Alpha, Sony 70-400 and 18-55 lenses.

Feedback

Patience! Work with the lighting you have. Don't be afraid to take a thousand shots of the same thing. Tell the story.
