Location
This photo was taken on the Staten Island Ferry boat on April 20, 2015 at 7:45 AM in New York City. I am a self-taught photographer, who enjoys sharing the beauty of the world through my lenses.Time
This is my most favorite imagine of New York City “Gotham City”. I frequently travel on the Staten Island Ferry, and on that particular day I knew I had to capture this shot. On this day, I decide to step on the deck to get some fresh air and check out the view of New York City. What’s amazing about this shot is that it shows that through any storm New York City will always stand strong.Lighting
I wanted to capture the beauty of that cloudy morning and the mysterious icon buildings. Plus, the nature lighting of the gray sky as the clouds surrounds the building it was a breathtaking moment.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 60D, with 18-135mm f/8 lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I am obsessed with clouds and tall buildings. I love taking photos that show the natural beauty of scenery and having the combination of the two is one of my favorite things to capture in my photos.Editing
I shot the original photo in color but I wanted all the imagines in the photo to have a strong black and white look. I filtered the color in Photoshop and created classic secrecy of the New York City Skyline. In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 60D, with my 18-135mm lens. In addition, I carry my 50mm 1:18 lens. As a photographer, my camera is not just equipment but is an attachment of myself and it allows me to capture the beauty of the world around me.Feedback
One of the most important things about capturing landscape photos is that you need to have a lot of patience and the love for what you are shooting. For photography, you have to be able to see beyond the secrecy and truly capture what you feel is inspiring to you.
