Behind The Lens

Location
I took this picture after a photo shoot. The truck was parked beside my barn.
Time
It was early evening around 6:00. Late August on a 100 degree day.
Lighting
It was a clear humid evening and not a cloud in the sky. The truck was parked beside my barn so there was enough of a shadow casting that it filtered the light well. It brought out the rust and blue tones.
Equipment
I use a Canon PowerShot SX130 IS Aperture: f 4/.5 ISO 160 Exposure 1/100
Inspiration
I was inspired by the truck itself. A 47 Chevrolet that had been used for a photo shoot earlier and I had it for a few more days after. I loved the look since it hadn't been restored and it was its "raw" self. I loved the simple lines and contours that collected rust and chips of paint. The inside was just as original with its own flaws that can occur over time.
Editing
I use Corel PaintShop Pro X6. I brought out a little more of the blue and rust tones to add a little more depth and detail.
In my camera bag
I have my camera as well as extra batteries. SD card for emergencies.
Feedback
My advice is see the "whole picture" then take that subject and start breaking up those elements. Think about the stand out qualities and take at different angles then move slightly over to catch some simple lines. Be creative and break out of the comfort zone and look at the car etc. at a different level of view. sit down on the ground, crouch etc.
