Behind The Lens

Location

I did take that photo in my house.

Time

It was afternoon and I was trying to take several shots, using different "speeds". That image was the result of low speed settings, as I wanted to capture the rotation of my head.

Lighting

The lighting was also low, in order to avoid distractions from the physical background.

Equipment

NIKON D5000, NIKKOR lens EF-S 18-55mm

Inspiration

My inspiration was "Portrait No. 29" (Double Exposure: Full Face and Profile), of MARCEL DUCHAMP and "Andy Warhol" (1965) by MICHAEL COOPER. Perhaps the idea of continuity as given by GJON MILI. I was trying to create an image that deals with that sort of "formalism".

Editing

No, there was no post-processing at all. My purpose was the depiction of the movement, and not at all the depiction of the subject itself.

In my camera bag

I usually carry a NIKON D5000, and a NIKKOR lens EF-S 18-55mm.

Feedback

The key element behind this type of "long exposure", is the low speed. There are plenty of examples of light painting, where someone can understand the duration of an act or just "long exposures", where the time is being "compressed". The ISO settings (high) are also important in order to have the desired balance.
