Behind The Lens

Location

Taken on the mountain road that traverses Mt. Sljeme over Zagreb (Croatia). It is very popular all through the year, but it is also a top class winter resort. Since there are many people visiting, the road is kept passable even in the heaviest snowfall. This time there was not too much snow, but it was very cold, and the ambient was fabulous. It used to be my fave photo space for many years and in all seasons.

Time

11:56:04

Lighting

Sheer natural...

Equipment

OLYMPUS SP570UZ, a nice, small superzoom that fits any coat pocket, but packs many focal lengths.

Inspiration

The wonder of the ambient! I did not come to ski, so I wasn't out of myself trying to find a place to park... Instead, my work and worries consisted of looking around! :)

Editing

Almost none. Excepting the slight re-sharpening after resizing for upload.

In my camera bag

The serious zoom-something (usually a prosumer), and a waterproof backup. Plus some small stuff like batteries, filters, and memory cards.

Feedback

Winter for a camera means often change of temperature. Take care not to allow any condensation, this might damage the camera. There are several ways to protect it, one of those is to keep the camera in a water-tight bag when you bring it from the cold into the warm space, for as long as it takes to acclimatize. And have the spare batteries kept warm - the cold makes them lazy.
