Behind The Lens

Location

I have a feel it was the Birmingham Christmas Market a few years back, but we may have had a wheel for a short time for other reasons.. it's hard to remember!

Time

Ohhh, it was winter, so i may have only been late afternoon.. 4-7ish?

Lighting

Arguably it would have been a better shot balancing the natural light/sun going down with the wheel, but as it's in the city, you get all the light pollution bouncing off the clouds anyways, which adds to the atmosphere.

Equipment

I imagine my 5d mk 3, 24-70L and a tripod. Would have loved to have had my super wide lens back then.

Inspiration

Every one wants a long exposure big wheel shot, it's like cliched law.

Editing

Maybe standard contrast work.

In my camera bag

Canon 5d mk 3 and 24-70L is my usual work horse, However it could be any mix of any, if not all of the following: two flashes, 70-200 2.8L and 17-40L. They'll be a few accessories too for the flash like a flashbender, gary fong, L bracket with chords and triggers... it depends on the job or my intentions.

Feedback

Experiment with exposure times and play around with what best suits you. And as said above, consider the time of day too to maybe add the extra kick, but in public spaces you may not always be blessed with so much control if people are walking around. Be respectful.
