This comes handy when I need both hands free, so I have to let go of the camera. It is made from a flat strip of stainless steel taken out of the worn windshield wipers.
Simply hang the camera by its wrist loop. Remove the camera by pulling it straight up. Can't be simpler than that. You can attach the hook to your trouser belt, or camera bag strap, or to the side of a backpack... even to your swimsuit, for snorkeling photo forays.
HOW-TO: belt slot is four centimeters long, its gap about three milimeters wide; you can calculate (and freely vary) all other dimensions from there.
The best "wiper steel" comes from truck or bus wipers, because of heavier profile gauge.
Use round-pointed pliers to shape, and file the material ends smooth. The plastic tube piece slides down to lock the belt slot shut. ;)
