Looks like as Holland. Beautiful shot.

Thank you but maybe a little more modern than Holland and not quit the personality as Holland ;)!

Ugh, hate those things-ruined a beautiful, picturesque area about an hour from home. But you actually make them look, well, pretty. I can't believe I just said that. I'll have to experiment and see if I can create the same effect through photography.

Thanks Ccope! They are rather majestic and much better to look at than a coal burning power plant ;)!

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken from a hike above the Los Vaqueros Reservoir near Mt Diablo California.

Time

This was taken late morning April 17, 2015.

Lighting

The sun was to the right and slightly behind me so I had a nice blue sky as a backdrop to these white giants.

Equipment

For this shot I used a Nikon D610 with a 80-400 Nikon lens.

Inspiration

We were hiking up the mountain on the opposite side of the reservoir from these wind turbines. I turned around and saw this view and because I had my big zoom lens to hopefully capture an eagle or hawk I decided to frame these 3 turbines against the hills and partly cloudy sky.

Editing

I processed this in LR and used a plugin from On1.

In my camera bag

I usually carry a Nikon D610, 16-35 and 80-400 Nikon lenses. I also carry an assortment of ND filters and tripod.

Feedback

To be on a long hike I normally don't carry a tripod so for a distant shot with a zoom lens image stabilization is a necessity. Take lots of shots and hopefully some will be in good focus. ;)
