Location
Photo was taken in Rome, exactly on the beach of Rome where the Kursal beach has a very nice swimming pool.Time
I love to shoot in the golden hours and this was shoo around the 6 pm in a summer day.Lighting
The light here is completely natural and offered from a nice sun slightly high on the horizon that gives long shadows and nice rimsEquipment
I've used my Nikon D800 with a 24-70mm zoom f/2.8, cant recall the aperture and time used but i normally keep it around 3.2 - 2.8 for this shots.Inspiration
I was playing around with my wife Alix (the model) and saw the beautiful lines offered from the swimming pool, I thought would be nice to cut them with her body lines and she enjoyed posing in a unusual and dramatic way that was in contrast with the happy and awesome place.Editing
The main post in here is the conversion of the Raw to B&W, the Jpeg on camera was already shot in B&W but I normally use always the RAWs. A very slight work done on the model skin and then I opened a bit the shadows on her body. Then the normal sharpening and cropping. In my camera bag
When I go around with my "all days bag" I normally bring a DLSR (Nikon D800 or Nikon Df) and a couple o lens that, generally on prime and one zoom. My best prime is at the moment a Samyang 85mm f/1,4 that has only the manual focus and used in combination with the Nikon Df is a fantastic feeling of going back to the analog times. Otherwise I bring a 50mm F/1,4 or a 35mm f/2.0. Has a zoom I pick the 24-70mm or the 70-200mm based at where I think I'm going to hang up. I always have a circular polarizer filter and a SB800 flash with me.Feedback
Just use your imagination and cut the lines to have impacting images. I love B&W so i use it as much as i can and it always add a more "photographic" taste to the images. Some time the best images are the one that no one has studied before, no planned, so just keep on playing around and have fun on the set.
