The skies were gloomy but the huge waves crashing into the pool provided such a lovely white contrast to the grey skies.Equipment
Nikon D600, 18-300mm lens, tripod.Inspiration
The huge waves were the first attraction to take the photo then as the swimmer entered then pool I waited until the waves were high and the swimmer was in action ! I liked the contrast of the smooth water in the pool and the fierceness if the sea crashing over the rocks.Editing
I adjusted the levels and added more brightness as the light in the pool was quite dull, I also used Nik Viveza. I used Gradient Map with a Luminosity blend from photoshop as in most cases this gives an image a "lift"In my camera bag
I don't carry a lot of equipment as often there is quite a hike to some of the places, on this occasion I also had a wide angle lens and a ND filter.Feedback
I guess it is about timing and some luck with the weather, my advice would be chose a spot that looks promising re composition, action and interest. Visit this spot often and on one of those occasions all the above should come together and of course always get up early to catch that beautiful morning light just after sunrise.
