Location
This photo was taken behind a commercial building; there is a small storm water detention pond with forestation around it. I was in a blind and shooting from about 60 yards, the shot has been cropped.Time
I went to the location at about 7:30 am and hiked through the forest (a short distance) and set up my blind and equipment. I was actually photographing geese and other wildlife. I began to hear birds behind me and changed my seating 180 degrees. I got very lucky and was able to capture a couple birds after they had caught their breakfast.Lighting
nopeEquipment
My set up consisted of a new Nikon D7100 with a 200-400 f4 Nikon lens. All was attached to a Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
The bird was very colorful and in a position that I could get a good auto focus shotEditing
Being totally color blind I usually do not touch my photographs other than a little bump in clarity and vibrance. In this particular case I did crop the photo about 50% using Photoshop Elements 12.In my camera bag
I usually carry a Nikon D3X, D700 and the D7100. Lenses in the bag would be Nikon 24-70 f2.8, Nikon 70-200 f2.8 and a Sigma 50mm f1.4. I carry the Nikon SB600 & SB700 flashes and wireless flashes. In my briefcase for work I keep a Nikon D90 with a Nikon 28-300 lens along with a Nikon 105 f2.8 Macro lens. I have an SB700 with portable soft box on an L Flash bracket for the macro shots.Feedback
