At first look I loved the flat, geometric look - but no, its not flat, its hills and valleys. Fantastic shot.

Behind The Lens

Location
I took the photograph in The Val d’Orcia, or Valdorcia, a beautiful region of Tuscany, central Italy, which extends from the hills south of Siena to Monte Amiata.
Time
For my last day at Val d’Orcia valley I was searching for a perfect location to shoot a sunset over the Tuscan grassland with farms and cypresses scattered on it. I was driving around for a couple of hours until I spotted the perfect location. I climbed on a small hill just under the medieval town of Pienza. The view (as can be seen from the images below) was absolutely perfect.
Lighting
The lighting was soft and warm just as it's expected for the last minutes of the day.
Equipment
I used a tripod and Nikon D800 with 18-120mm lens and was shot at 120mm
Inspiration
I wanted to visit Tuscany for a few years now. I always try to combine cycling with breathtaking views of landscape and Tuscany is perfect for that, especially The Val d‘Orcia region. Endless photo opportunities are found in these villages and rolling hills.
Editing
In this image I just did some basic post processing like adding a bit of contrast and saturation and make sure shadows and highlights were perfect.
In my camera bag
I always have Nikon D800 with 14-24mm wide angle lens and 28-300mm lens. I usually also have Sony A6000 with me also since it's very light and I can take him with me to some destinations that are harder to reach (rock climbing).
Feedback
The Val d’Orcia valley offers endless possibilities when it comes to shooting landscapes. My advice is to drive around in the day to find a perfect spot for the sunset or for the next morning. The golden hour light really casts beautiful shadows over the hills and meadows of The Val d’Orcia.
