Behind The Lens

Location

This is a composite of two photos. The background photo is hanging out a window of a parking garage in San Antonio Texas. The spiderman picture is of my friend Ethan. I ask him to kneel up against a brick wall.

Time

evening

Lighting

nothing special about lighting

Equipment

sony a65 both pictures were handheld

Inspiration

I was talking with ethan and he was real excited about his spiderman costume and having his picture taken with his costume. I suggested what if we could make it look like you were hanging from the side of a building well that made him real happy. So I had remembered I took this photo on a day trip to san antonio and it seems to work.

Editing

just a standard composite in photoshop.

In my camera bag

Sony A65, speedflash, I just don't have a lot of equipment.

Feedback

One thing that Ansel Adams taught was to pre-visualize the photos. This was by necessity because he was working with glass plates and other very heavy equipment. So much of the photographic process starts in the head asking questions like what will this photo look like and If I wait for the sun to be in X position how will it look.
