I took this photo in my neighbourhood - just 100 meters from the doorstep to our house..Time
This was in the early afternoon 28th of December and my husband and I had been out skiing. It was a beautiful day and very cold, about -15°C, and we had been out skiing for a couple of hours. As the ski slopes are just outside our house, the spot where I took this photo is where we took off our skis. As I took off my skiis and looked up I saw this "postcard picture" with the clear blue sky and the moon coming up behind the hill. Luckily I had brought my little compact along, so I got it up and could capture this beautiful view. This was shot at 1540 pm.Lighting
The lighting was just perfect as it was, as from the angle I was standing and with the sun behind me, only the little hill with the red house and trees was naturally lit up by the low sun. So all I had to do was to try to keep the camera still and press the button, which was actually a bit challenging as it was -15°C..Equipment
This was shot with my compact Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7, using the automatic landscape settings. Aperture: f/4.0 ISO: 80 Exposure: 10/2500Inspiration
The sun litting up just this little hill with the red house, the trees, the snow, the moon coming up behind it and the clear colors made it stand out, so for me this was just the perfect "winterscape" to capture.Editing
As it was shot in jpeg I had to remove some noise and slightly deblurre and sharp a bit, and also a bit tonal contrast enhancing in photoshop.In my camera bag

As for this kind of setting/ object you can make good use of the low sun.. The angle of your position and low sun behind you can give unexpected frames to capture if you turn around and see what the sun lits up.. So if you're out looking at the low sun/ sun setting, turn around and see how or what it lits up - you might get surprised.
