Behind The Lens

Location

Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Time

It was almost at 11 PM.

Lighting

Even if it was quite late, the sky was not completely dark, because it was summer, so the contrast between the sky and the lights of the windows was not too high.

Equipment

I used a Canon 500D with a Canon 17-85 IS lens. Because it was a long exposure, the camera was hold by my Manfrotto tripod.

Inspiration

I was impressed by the reflection of these typical Dutch houses in the calm water of the canal.

Editing

Just a bit of sharpening and denoise.

In my camera bag

Camera body: Canon EOS 500D. Lenses: Canon 17-85 IS, Canon 70-200, Sigma 10-20 Tripod: Manfrotto Filters: Hitech ND10 and 4 stops

Feedback

For this kind of photos yo need a lot of patience, because you will have to wait the right moment: low light, calm water, no objects in motion in the frame... Furthermore be prepared taking some test shots to find the correct exposure time, because with long exposure camera sensors not always are very precise.
