Actually, the guy didn't jump, he positioned himself at the surface +/- above the hurdle and sank. Check out the left pocket of his shorts: if you look closely, you can see the weight pouch he had in his pockets.

I just wanted to tell you how magical this picture is to me! My son is on the high school track team and the swim team! At least in high school, the 2 sports go hand in hand. Amazing shot, perfectly executed. Congratulations!
