It was around One O'clock PM.Lighting
If we take photos of flowers "by the book", we wait for cloudy days to have light soften by the clouds. But with flowers with translucents petals, for me It's the opposite: I'm looking for direct, harsh and backlit light.It seems that the light flash from the flower itself. And with this kind of shot, the background is so important! Here, with lens wide open with shallow depht of field, It seems there fire behind!Equipment
I have a Nikon D-300, and I took this shot with Sigma 70-200mm F2.8. No flash and no tripod.Inspiration
First, It was the light in these flowers and the way they were so bright, like they were in fire. I have made few compositions, but this one is the best I think.Editing
I take all my photos in RAW, and I do the post-processing in Lightroom. Here I reduce a little bit the exposition, ajust contrast, and add vignetting to darken the edges of the frame.In my camera bag

When you found interesting subject, specifically with flowers, always look for background, that is as important as the subject itself I think. Try many compositions, and never think It's impossible to do! For this kind of photo, you have to use wide aperture, to blur the background. And the most important ingredient: have fun!
